About Us
Keren Geier, LCSW - Co-Founder of SoKer
Our lives are like pieces of a puzzle. How we choose to put them together is among the most important decisions we make. As a professional with a decade of experience, I am committed to helping my clients assemble these pieces as productively as possible, working towards goals of happiness, success and personal fulfillment.
I obtained my Masters in Social Worker at California State University, Long Beach where I specialized in children, youth and families. I then worked at Child and Family Guidance Center where I gained the professional knowledge and expertise to clinically conceptualize and create individualized treatment plans congruent with my clients’ goals.
I have been a clinician in private practice for nearly three years. I have expanded my expertise to include working with adults of all ages assisting them in identifying areas of growth and utilizing insight oriented therapy to reach their goals. I draw upon a wide array of therapeutic approaches such as clinical hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems theory in order to provide the most individualized and effective therapy for my clients.
Effective therapeutic work begins when you and/or your child are ready to explore the areas of your life that would benefit from personal growth and change. I view myself as a caring change agent ready to facilitate that process in a beneficial and meaningful way.
Sophia Kong, Ph.D. - Co-Founder of SoKer
I began working with adolescents when I was still an adolescent myself, as a mentor for an after-school program for young girls. From there, I worked in a variety of community organizations focused on empowering young people and building self-esteem. I have always loved working with young people, because I struggled as an adolescent, and believe that I could have benefited from extra emotional support. My work with young people varies from individuals living with autism to assisting individuals with life-threatening health related illnesses.
While I was working at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in 2002, I became inspired by the mental health providers and decided to pursue a career in mental health. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2008 at California School of Professional Psychology. I appreciated my education there as it offered me great clinical experience and tools to help prepare me and mold me into the psychologist I am today.
I tailor my interventions depending on the individual and have seen through my experience the effectiveness of combining various theories and professional methodoligies.
